Jersey Shore rides Schlaeger to victory over Lockport, 4-1

Jersey Shore relied on the sparkling performance of Marc Schlaeger in net to grab a 4-1 win against Lockport.

Jersey Shore\’s penalty kill excelled, as Jersey Shore gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Jersey Shore was paced by Ilya Spektor, who tallied one goal. Spektor scored 16:40 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Jersey Shore. William Villeneuve picked up the assist.

Jersey Shore\’s penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Jersey Shore had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. Jersey Shore stifled Lockport\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Jersey Shore kept Lockport\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Shotwell made 63 saves on 67 shots.

Others who scored for Jersey Shore included Jiri Hajda, Kevin Gruber, and Adam Skutchan, who scored one goal each. In addition, Jersey Shore received assists from Alexandre Racicot and Justin Apgar, who each chipped in one.

Lockport racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Lockport surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Lockport could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Lockport averages 5.3 goals per game. Lockport forced Jersey Shore goalie Schlaeger to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots.

Lockport was led by Justin Blake, who scored the team\’s only goal. Blake scored 12:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jersey Shore. Anthony Merante assisted on the tally.

Schlaeger recorded 56 saves for Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
