Lockport Express survives Cape Cod Islanders comeback, wins 4-3

Lockport Express, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Cape Cod Islanders and clinched a 4-3 victory.

Lockport Express led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Lockport Express\’ Mark Friol scored at 14:28 in the second period to put Lockport Express up 4-1.

Lockport Express stifled Cape Cod Islanders\’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lockport Express kept Cape Cod Islanders\’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Belanger made 31 saves on 35 shots.

Lockport Express was helped by Christopher Gasiewicz, who grabbed one goal. Gasiewicz scored 2:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lockport Express. Ryan Logar picked up the assist. Lockport Express also had goals scored by Daniel Golba and Nicholas Siracuse, who each put in one. In addition, Lockport Express received assists from Jordan Pocobello and Frank II Vecchio, who contributed one each.

Cape Cod Islanders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lockport Express to score on any of its four power plays. Lockport Express was unable to stop Cape Cod Islanders from sending pucks towards the net, and Cape Cod Islanders eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Cape Cod Islanders was helped by Brandon Robert, who racked up one goal. Robert scored 18:15 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Lockport Express. Colton Hart provided the assist. Others who scored for Cape Cod Islanders included Jordy Knoren and Christian Holmes, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Cape Cod Islanders were Anthony Giannelli, Casey Zawojski, and Charles Antoine Malenfant, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Shotwell made 28 saves for Lockport Express on 31 shots. Lockport Express incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Cape Cod Islanders incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cape Cod Islanders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Frank Oakley was ejected from the game.
