Maine Wild wins tough contest against Lockport Express, 3-2

Maine Wild and Lockport Express were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Maine Wild made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Maine Wild gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ryan Donohue 9:49 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Lockport Express\’ power play was ineffective against Maine Wild\’s penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Maine Wild was led by Donohue, who racked up one goal.

Maine Wild put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lockport Express to score on any of its nine power plays. Maine Wild was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 18 penalty minutes.

Maine Wild also had goals scored by Drew Lupardo and Travis Mansir, who scored one goal each. In addition, Maine Wild received assists from Noel Fischer, who had two and Spence Cowand, Matt Jerome, and Matt Henderson, who contributed one each.

Lockport Express\’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Maine Wild power plays. Lockport Express\’ offense operated below its season average. Lockport Express puts an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game.

Lockport Express was helped by Nicholas Siracuse, who had one goal. Siracuse scored 7:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Maine Wild. Frank II Vecchio provided the assist. Ryan Logar also scored for Lockport Express. Other players who recorded assists for Lockport Express were Gibson Stuart and Daniel Golba, who each chipped in one.

Lucas Osborne took the win and made 12 saves before being replaced by Justin Broy who made 16 saves. Tyler Shotwell made 13 saves for Lockport Express on 16 shots. Lockport Express incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
