New York survives Lockport comeback, wins 6-5

Lockport tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but New York held on for a 6-5 victory.

New York took a 6-4 lead during the third period, only to have Lockport storm back on a Christopher Gasiewicz goal 19:36 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Sam Marolda had two goals to lead New York to victory.

New York\’s offense rang up 40 shots on Lockport\’s net. New York found itself short handed often, totaling 42 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

New York additionally got points from Corey Rees, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for New York included Philip Pistraya, Martin Grinberg, and Phillip Garcia, who scored one goal each. In addition, New York received assists from Nick Jean-Louis, who had three and Robert Kalata, Shawn Eastman, Daniel Backstrom, Sam Shaheen, Chris Hozza, Alex Rojas, Gunther Stange, and Ricky Regala, who contributed one each.

New York was unable to stop Lockport from sending pucks towards the net, and Lockport eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Lockport was led by Ryan Logar, who registered two goals and one assist. Logar scored the first of his two goals at 6:12 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lockport. John Gannon picked up the assist. Logar\’s next tally made the score 3-2 Lockport with 11:45 left in the second period. Josh Evoy provided the assist. Lockport also got points from Frank II Vecchio, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Gasiewicz, who also had one goal and one assist. Lockport also got a goal from Jordan Pocobello as well. More assists for Lockport came via Kurt Villani, who had one and Brendan McFall and Dylan Jenkins, who contributed two each.

Stephen Mundinger made 38 saves for New York on 43 shots. New York registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Sal Stalteri rejected 34 shots on goal for Lockport. Lockport ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
