Andrew Logar had a big night with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) as the Niagara Falls PowerHawks crushed the Skylands Kings 6-3 in a home game at Skylands Ice World in Niagara Falls. Also, Kris Augustine came up big, stopping 27 of 30 shots throughout the game. The Niagara Falls PowerHawks took the lead late in the second on a goal from Gage Mueller.
Brandon Schweickert contributed with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Matthew Minichello did his part, adding 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Eric Vanderhoff had a busy night with 2 goals.
During the first period, Vanderhoff opened the scoring for the Kings with a goal at 8:44 with a helper from defenseman Dinzik.
In the second, Vanderhoff netted a goal at 6:55 with an assist from his linemate Ford. Minichello finally put the PowerHawks on the board with a goal at 9:16 with helpers from Logar and Schweickert. Logar quickly followed with a goal at 10:58 with assists from his linemates, Minichello and Villani. Schweickert deposited a goal at 14:07 with helpers from teammates Logar and Minichello. Baker quickly followed with a goal at 15:31 with an assist from fellow Kings forward Finkel. Mueller quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 16:49 with helpers from his linemates, Villani and Hrynczak.
During the third period, Logar scored a goal at 4:36 with assists from Walerowicz and Schweickert. Thornton netted a goal at 14:46 with helpers from Korpolinski and Metzler.
The PowerHawks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Augustine’s big night as he stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced. Augustine’s counterpart, Yttereng, also had a big night, managing to stop 48 of 54, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Niagara Falls PowerHawks’ record to (21-16-1-2).
