Matthew Minichello and Andrew Logar had big nights with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) respectively as the Niagara Falls PowerHawks crushed the Skylands Kings 8-3 in a home game at Hyde Park Ice Pavillion in Niagara Falls. Furthermore, the Niagara Falls PowerHawks' offense had a big night, peppering Skylands with 42 shots throughout the game. The Niagara Falls PowerHawks took the lead early in the second on a goal from Andrew Logar.
Nathan Walerowicz chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Kurt Villani contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Craig Garrigan did his part, adding 2 goals and Steven Gay delivered for his team with 2 assists.
In the first, Garrigan opened the scoring for the Kings with a goal at 10:41 with helpers from teammates Ford and Gay. Tripi answered for the PowerHawks with a goal at 14:14 with helpers from his linemates, Logar and Villani. Mueller quickly followed with a goal at 15:02 with assists from his linemates, Minichiello and Domiano.
During the second period, Minichello put in a goal at 1:04 with helpers from his linemates, Logar and Minichiello. Logar scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at 3:07 with assists from Minichello and Schweickert. Stewart netted a goal at 7:13 with helpers from Olszewski and Schweickert. Vanderhoff answered for the Kings with a goal at 14:56 with an assist from his linemate Ford. Villani answered for the PowerHawks with a goal at 19:13 with helpers from Minichello and Walerowicz.
In the third period, Walerowicz put in a goal at 11:10 with assists from Minichello and Logar. Domiano quickly followed with a goal at 11:37. Garrigan quickly followed with a goal at 12:15 with helpers from Scarpa and Gay.
Niagara Falls’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Augustine’s big night as he stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced. Augustine’s counterpart, Yttereng, also had a big night, managing to stop 34 of 42, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Niagara Falls PowerHawks’ record to (1-0-0-0).
