Cornerstone Arena To Host Blood Drive July 12th

The American Red Cross, state Sen. Rob Ortt, Lockport Mayor Anne McCaffrey and Lockport Police Chief Mike Niethe are hosting a Community Blood Drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone Ice Arena, 1 Grigg Lewis Way.

Blood donations decline during the summer months, so every everyone is encouraged to come out and donate. Anyone who is healthy and 17 years of age or older is urged to donate. Donors must also weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. All blood types are needed.

Donors at this event will receive a free Red Cross lunch tote and pizza, donated by Sub Delicious.

Walk-ins are welcome, but to schedule a time to donate, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visitwww.redcrossblood.org. Photo ID is required.

Express to Hold High Performance Training Camp

The Lockport Express will continue their off-season training with a High Performance Main Camp on July 23rd and 24th at the Cornerstone Arena. Camp on both days begins at 4:20pm. Players should report for both sessions. The cost for the camp is $40 per players.

Those who are interested must register online at www.lockportexpress.com. Click on "Forms" and select "2016 Main Camp" on the drop down menu. Fill out the form and pre-pay. Please print out and fill the "Consent to Treat Form" completely and bring it with you to the camp.

Ryan Logar Makes ACHA D1 Commitment to Canisus

Ryan Logar has made a commitment to attend Canisus College to play ACHA Division 1 hockey. Logar led the Express with 57 points in 41 games for the Lockport Express in the 2015-2016 season. He had 25 goals and 32 assists.

“Ryan is a fierce competitor who brings passion and energy to every game.  He helped put our program on the map by playing for us in our very first season as well as this past season.  He will be an asset to not only the Canisuis program but the college as well and we wish him the best," said Expess General Manager, Frank Vecchio.

Lockport Express announce Rookie Camp for April 9th &10th 2016


    The Lockport Express have announced their High Performance Rookie Camp for 2016. Jersey Shore beats Lockport 6-5 after comeback scare

Lockport tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Jersey Shore held on for a 6-5 victory.

Jersey Shore made the score 6-4 on a goal by Freddie Schaljo at 11:41 in the third period, and Lockport got as close as 6-5 when Jordan Pocobello scored 19:04 into the third period.

The win by Jersey Shore clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

With four goals and one assist between them, Dylan Plsek and John Rubin teamed up to power Jersey Shore\’s offense. Plsek registered two goals and one assist and Rubin also added two goals.

Jersey Shore put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lockport to score on any of its eight power plays. Jersey Shore forced Lockport goalie Sam Fitzpatrick to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Bogdan Khvatov also scored for Jersey Shore. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Shore were Jared Karas, who had four, Ben Wingbermuehle, Zach Roth, and Marcus McCall, who contributed one each, and Scott Hansen and Christian Cooley, who each chipped in two.

Lockport was led by Mark Friol, who grabbed two goals. Friol scored the first of his two goals at 1:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jersey Shore. Ryan Logar provided the assist. Friol\’s next tally made the score 4-4 with 7:05 left in the second period. Gibson Stuart picked up the assist. Lockport also got points from Pocobello, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lockport included Kurt Villani and Frank II Vecchio, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lockport received assists from Andrew Logar, who had two and Justin Andriaccio, Erick Santiago, Dylan Jenkins, and Christopher Gasiewicz, who contributed one each.

Jersey Shore\’s Scott Albertoni stopped 19 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Jersey Shore totaled 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Sam Fitzpatrick made 40 saves for Lockport on 46 shots. Lockport incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For Lockport, Andriaccio was ejected from the game.
