The Niagara Falls PowerHawks' offense had a big night, peppering the Oswego Stampede with 44 shots throughout the game. The Niagara Falls PowerHawks took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Michael Olszewski.
Frankie Bodami did his part, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Stephen Minichiello delivered for his team with 2 assists. Eddie Cannon chipped in with 2 goals and Rich Hart contributed with 2 assists.
During the first, Kalinowski opened the scoring for the PowerHawks with a goal at 1:28 with helpers from his linemates, Domiano and Bodami. Hrynczak quickly followed with a goal at 2:36 with a helper from his teammate Logar. Cannon finally put the Stampede on the board with a goal at 5:35 with an assist from defenseman Zarragoitia. Candleana scored a goal at 7:55 with helpers from Hart and Zarragoitia.
During the second period, Schweickert answered for Niagara Falls with a goal at 0:46 with assists from Logar and Minichiello. Olszewski put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 7:08 with a helper from his linemate Domiano. Bodami deposited a goal at 9:56 with an assist from Tripi. Cannon answered for the Stampede with a goal at 16:25 with a helper from defenseman Hart. Bodami answered for the PowerHawks with a goal at 19:08 with an assist from Minichiello.
Niagara Falls’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Gates’ big night as he stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced. Gates’ counterpart, Branson, also had a big night, managing to stop 23 of 28, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Niagara Falls PowerHawks’ record to (16-13-1-1).
