Kris Augustine came up big, stopping 55 of 57 shots throughout the game. The Niagara Falls PowerHawks took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Spencer Hrynczak and never looked back.
Andrew Logar had a busy night with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Matthew Minichello contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Eric Vanderhoff delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Lionel Landry did his part, adding 2 assists.
In the first, Logar opened the scoring for the PowerHawks with a goal at 0:42 with helpers from his linemates, Tripi and Minichello. Logar netted a goal at 5:16 with helpers from teammates Minichiello and Schweickert. Hrynczak deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:34 with assists from his linemates, Mueller and Villani.
During the second period, Dinzik finally put Skylands on the board with a goal at 8:39 with assists from Landry and Vanderhoff.
In the third, Vanderhoff scored a goal at 4:44 with a helper from fellow Kings forward Landry. Minichello answered for Niagara Falls with a goal at 8:59 with helpers from his linemates, Minichiello and Logar.
The PowerHawks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Augustine’s big night as he stopped 55 of the 57 shots he faced. Augustine’s counterpart, Yttereng, also had a big night, managing to stop 31 of 35, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Niagara Falls PowerHawks’ record to (22-16-1-2).
